Samsung Galaxy SIII Party @ Marquee, July 19, 2012
Clint Zer0 — July 20

Once I heard it was a Samsung event, you KNEW I had to go. If you’ve been to any Samsung event then you probably know why that is: they are always awesome. Last night’s event for the Samsung Galaxy SIII (the second one this month) was more a celebration of their new smartphone, which has done nothing but take the world by storm, which was to be expected with something as highly anticipated as the SIII.
Because the good people from Samsung take care of their own, upon arrival to Marquee (crazy right?!) the girl checking people asked if anyone in our party had a Samsung phone. One of my friends had one, so he said so. Her response: OK great, you guys get a table. Say WHAT?! How awesome is that?! She walked us inside and kicked some people out of our table and sat us down. A cocktail waitress came over with a menu of bottles we could get, so we got a bottle of vodka. Apparently a bunch of people got their own table (the people sitting to our left got champagne), just for having a Samsung phone. Awesomeness! If you didn’t have a phone you got free drinks anyway, with the wristband you had. The wristbands had drink tickets on it you rip off and hand to the bartender for the freebies, so it wasn’t an all out open bar, but you could pretty much get whatever you wanted with the tickets.

It was a grand old party, courtesy of Holy Ghost! On the wheels of steel. The band DJs a lot at different parties, which is weird because yesterday was the first time I’ve ever seen them play, anything! It doesn’t make sense really, that artists from NYC (Brooklyn no less) have gone this long, doing this many shows in the city, without me seeing them once. Last night that changed. The boys of Holy Ghost! Are actually amazing DJs. They may be the best musicians I’ve heard DJ outside of LCD Soundsystem. They play a good mixture of house and old school dance music, mixed in with some techno and even played some rap music. Pretty much, party stuff, to get all the people with tables dancing on their couches. At the end of the party, on your way out, you were greeted by more Samsung staffers, handing out photos they took of you as you entered, as well as handing out pizza. What kind of free pizza you ask? Why Artichoke of course! I love Artichoke! This was another awesome event thrown by Samsung, and although it was a smaller party than the launch for the SIII, it was super fun none-the-less.
